Harbor Nights Finale

11/2/2006

It is hard to believe the 14th season of Harbour Nights is complete. On Wednesday, October 11th, the Harbour Nights season was supposed to come to an end, but thunder and lightening prevented this from happening and the finale had to be rescheduled for October 18th. Mr. George Papp, a passenger on the Norwegian Cruise Line ship, docked at Front Street was all too pleased to see the festival being set up on October 18th. Mr. Papp, visiting from Montreal, decided that Harbour Nights would be the perfect venue to propose to his girlfriend Rachelle. The Bank of Bermuda, who sponsored the season and the finale, were pleased to assist Mr. Papp in his proposal plan. After PRIDE strutted their stuff on stage and the Bermuda Idols wowed the audience with their incredible voices, Mr. Papp got down on one knee in front of hundreds to pop the question. The crowd went wild with excitement and Rachelle said YES! It was a great way to end the 2006 season and a surprise that will last for many years to come. The Chamber of Commerce would like to extend our thanks to all those who participated: vendors, retail stores, restaurants, musicians and entertainers! Harbour Nights would not be possible without the continuous support of our sponsors, Bank of Bermuda and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs. For George and Rachelle, this is the start of a new beginning and very fitting for the 15th Season of Harbour Nights… it will be all new, exciting and different!
