20-20 World Cricket Classic and The Get Fit Foundation Health & Activity Village

3/20/2006

Many of you have probably heard about the upcoming first ever 20-20 World Cricket Classic being held in Bermuda at the National Sports Centre from April 22-30, 2006. This spectacular event is being hosted by the Get Fit Foundation (GEFF) International. With the full support of the Bermuda Government, GEFF is committed to tackling the global challenge of inactivity, obesity and related health issues such as diabetes using high profile international events such as the 20-20 Classic. Steve Blackman and Caroline Knox, Directors of the GEFF Health & Activity Village conducted an information session on Thursday, March 16th for all of the Chamber’s members. This very informative session discussed the upcoming 20/20 Cricket Classic, which involves eight leading cricket nations battling for the world’s first ever 20-20 World Cricket Classic title as well as the GEFF health and Activity Village. Partnered by five of Bermuda’s top Charities, the Village aims to make health and activity safe and fun. The Village offers a range of activities from cricket batting, bowling and catching arenas to a soccer penalty shoot-out, rugby bungee, and a giant Zorb ball obstacle course. There will also be a healthy food village offering tasty options from each of the eight nations participating in the Classic as well as thirst quenchers ranging from fresh juices and shakes to succulent fruit and ice cones. GEFF is looking for enthusiastic volunteers. If you or your company is interested in volunteering for the GEFF Health & Activity Village, please contact Sean Pitcher at spitcher@csm.bm or on his cell: 505-1203. Please note tents and coolers are not permitted on the grounds of both events. Get your tickets at www.boxoffice.bm. For further information visit their website: www.worldcricketclassic.bm.
