Advocacy

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce's strength is its consultative process.  Members have the opportunity to be closely involved with policy definition through involvement in various Committees which interface with key government officials.

As the Voice for Bermuda Business, we enable both small and large businesses to have input on key issues through our campaigning, lobbying, and representation. We have represented businesses to Government in the improvement of workforce training and education, crime, safety, CURE Taskforce, and housing and transportation reforms. Over the years we have fostered a good working relationship with several Ministries which affords us the opportunity to arrange urgent meetings, at the highest level on matters of major concern to our members.

Middle School Summit

Congratulations and kudos are extended to the Minister of Education, The Hon. Dame Jennifer Smith for the Middle School Summit initiative held at the Bermuda College on Friday, April 1st 2011.  Middle School female students gathered on the grounds of Bermuda College and in the lecture hall to meet and hear from various business and community leaders who provided positive direction and shared some hard learned lessons of life.

Executive Vice President, Diane Gordon, commented, “It is important to make education relative to a future career and the best way to do that is to involve the business community.  The Chamber of Commerce will support any education initiative which brings the student population and the business community together in a constructive, informative manner.”  We applaud the Minister for implementing this initiative and look forward to participating on an annual basis.
