What We Do
An Executive Board elected annually oversees the activities of the divisions and ensures that the plan of work is executed by the staff and the various committees. The strong Executive Board consists of representatives from divisions and the overall membership of the Chamber. A smaller Management Committee made up of the President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer and Executive Vice President meets weekly. The Executive Board and other standing committees lobby the Government of the day at ministerial level. This has proven to be instrumental in influencing policy decisions. The Chamber surveys the members with regard to issues that affect their businesses and the community as a whole. The President of the Chamber in consultation with the Executive Board responds publicly to issues that affect the interests of members. The Chamber provides many benefits for members. The Visitors' Service Bureaus (VSB's) are operated by the Chamber. Chamber members only are permitted to advertise in the VSB's. Chamber members are provided with a wealth of business data through the Chamber web site, Chamber monthly Newsline, quarterly issue of Biz-ography, committee meetings, and educational opportunities. The Chamber provides business education for the members through Information Sessions held in the Chamber Board Room, as well as open forums on current issues of the day. The Chamber is a 'Networking' organization for business people from all occupations! Our members range from sole proprietor businesses to companies with numerous employees. The Chamber being a renowned worldwide organization ensures that its members engage in sound business practices. The Chamber of Commerce is the voice of Bermuda business. A certificate of membership is thought of as a 'Seal of Approval' in the business community. |
