Economic Development

Economic development directs the activities of the Economic Division to present the Chamber's policies and view points to the Management Committee and Executive Board of the Chamber and Government departments on a regular basis.

Their role is to:

  • Establish contact with key members of Government responsible for national budget and fiscal policy;
  • Keep updated and inform Management Committee and Executive Board about all capital projects;
  • Keep updated and inform Management Committee and Executive Board on all proposed legislation which will impact on any segment of the business community;
  • Recommend as required policy on alternative tax revenue base for Bermuda;
  • Review and comment on annual Government budgets;
  • Provide topics for discussion to Government's Ministry of Finance or any type of Economic forum and prepare papers for same.

New Chamber Feature: Quarterly Statistics

The Chamber has produced graphs to give a visual snapshot of the Island’s economic health.  All of the statistics have been taken from the Statistics Department were released by the Bermuda Government up to the end of the second quarter of 2011.
