Business Technology

This Division is open to all those who are actively engaged in the many support services associated with business technology, telecommunications, e-business, or are actively engaged, or planning to trade in e-commerce or e-business development. It provides a unified forum for those involved in the business sectors of technology, telecommunications, e-commerce and e-business and enable those companies to proactively address issues of common concern.

The Committee, lead by current Chairperson, Marisa Stones works together with the Ministry of Telecommunications and E-Commerce (MTEC) on various issues which include: Data protection, Child pornography, Freedom of Information.

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, Business Technology division joined WITSA (World Information Technology and Services Alliance, www.witsa.org) in 2007 with the purpose of developing and promoting Bermuda as a technology centre in the world. In the fall of 2009, the Business Technology Division hosted, with the help of a number of key sponsors and the Government of Bermuda, Department of E-Commerce, the WITSA Global Public Policy Summit (GPPS2009). This provided those in the ICT community with an ideal opportunity to network with both the private and public sector policy makers from around the world. As a result of their efforts in this regard, the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce was recently designated as the WITSA Caribbean Regional Office with a seat on the WITSA Board. Our current WITSA activities revolve around developing the organization and adding new members to develop the industry within the region. Anyone interested in further information on WITSA in Bermuda can contact John Kyle at (441) 294-3502.

Once a month the Division hosts Wired Wednesday (WW), an after work cocktail networking event for industry professionals. Each month the event is sponsored by a member who presents a topic of interest for the first 15 minutes of the evening. The intent is to increase membership at the Chamber and to provide a forum where those in the technology industry can talk “shop”.

The Business Technology Division of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce is set to host a Wired Wednesday roundtable discussion on cloud computing. Top-level executives from Bermuda and overseas to be panelist. Read on.....

If you are interested in sponsoring this event, please contact the Divisional Coordinator.

TECHWEEK Tradeshow
The Business Technology Division (BT) will be hosting the 2011 TECHWEEK Tradeshow Friday, October 7 & Saturday, October 8th at Fairmont Hamilton Princess.  TECHSHOWCASE is a unique opportunity to learn about trends, emerging technologies and show technology on the cutting edge.  We would like to inform you of some recent developments that will look to enhance the Showcase for the expected visitors and provide better value:

Exhibit Price Change- Effectively immediately, the prices for all booths have been reduced across the board.  The Organizing Committee analyzed feedback received and responded with pricing that was all inclusive and focused on what was most important to exhibitors.

Full Serviced Venue - To bring efficiency to the coordination and display of Exhibitors, we moved everything to one level of the venue - the Princess Rooms.  In that area we will have a main exhibition area and a private breakout space to make product demonstrations at scheduled times.

Primary Focus -Most enquires we received surrounded the tradeshow component. To provide better value, we removed elements such as the cocktail reception and were able to bring prices down and pass them onto you.
