One of the newer Divisions of the Chamber of Commerce, the aim of this association is to act as the official body under the Chamber umbrella, to undertake discussion with relevant Government Ministries, Departments and other organizations on all issues relating to the industry i.e. insurers, TCD, National Training Board, Consumer Affairs and Bermuda Emissions Control Ltd. The negotiating of agreements with Trade Unions however is left to individual distributors.
BADA is addressing the following items through their collaborative efforts with these various bodies:
-
Loaner vehicles re: prohibitive operating costs – ongoing discussions with the local insurers and the Ministry of Finance.
-
“What Constitutes a Dealer” document – consultation with TCD
-
Energy Greenpaper re: Fuel Efficient vehicles – consultation with Department of Energy
-
National Certification for Mechanics – consultation with the National Training Board and representation on the OAC.
-
Emissions Control (BECL) - open dialogue, regular updates and staff training
BADA meetings are held on a monthly basis and are led by current Chairman, Michael Butler.
